Officially we are two months away from our annual Donkey Kong Tournament.
Kong Klash 12 is happening!
We at the Vortex Arcade are super excited to be hosting great players from all over the United States.
Beginner, Intermediate, Semi-Pro and Pro players are showcased in this event.
With Four groups of players all trying their hardest to be the best in their Division.
We will be going thru each and every Kong machine checking wiring, switches, joysticks, voltages...making sure everything is working
as smoothly as possible. Monitors will be tuned up and adjusted.
Trophies are ordered. Prizes are secured and ready for distribution at Kong Klash 12.
Sign up Fee:
Sign ups are $20.00 per player for Beginner and Intermediate Divisions
Sign ups are $25.00 per player for Semi-Pro and Pro Divisions. We charge a sign up fee for two reasons, To help with prize support and to keep the event alive.
It's a minimal cost for all we are able to do. We get most of the financial support throughout the year from the Vortex Arcade.
Sign ups are open from now until 15 minutes before each day of Kong Klash 12.

Cutoff for Saturday October 1st, 2022 will be 11:45am.
Players who do not have a score history with the Donkey Kong Forum, have never streamed their Donkey Kong games or cannot produce any evidence of past scores
should arrive extra early to Kong Klash 12 so that your gameplay can be evaluated prior to entering so we can place you in your appropriate Division.
Judges word is final:
There are not a great deal of rulings that need to be made during Kong Klash events, but when a judge makes a ruling it is final.
Some of the issues that arise in a Kong Klash are: Sandbagging, poor sportsmanship, outburst or profanity, inappropiate behavior unbecoming of a Kong Player.
This is a positive event, we each support eachother. No matter how much pressure is on, everyone should be respectful and uplifting to their fellow players.
Divisons and Prize Support:
Each day of our two day Kong Klash 12 event will have players competing against like skilled individuals in their own respective Division.
Day 1 will have Beginner and Intermediate Divisions playing at the same time. Players from each Division will be chosen at random first to last, and will play
a single game on the Donkey Kong machine they have been placed at by the rotation. Once that game is over, the player is to move to the next available machine
to their right. If that machine is still occupied the player may choose to wait patiently behind the player at that machine or skip that machine and go to the
next unoccupied machine and start another game. Be patient with other players. Two different skill Divisions will be using the machines at the same time.
It is an opportunity for more experineced players to share helpful insights and strategies that can help the other Division players should they wish to help
one another.
Friday, Day 1 of the Tournament:
From the start of Kong Klash 12, everyone is competing for the highest score in their respective Division. Once the tournament begins, other prizes are awarded
throughout the course of the evening. Every hour on the hour a prize will be given away starting with the 6pm start. Even Hours Prize: At 6pm, 8pm and 10pm a winner will
be chosen at random to receive a merchandise prize. Merchandise prizes can be mugs, shirts, hats, posters etc. Odd Hours Prize: At 7pm, 9pm and 11pm a winner will be chosen
at random to receive a cash prize. Cash prizes can be $10.00, $25.00 or $50.00
Saturday, Day 2 of the Tournament: Even hours Prize: At 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm, and 10pm a winner will be chosen at random to receive a merchandise prize. Odd Hours Prize:
1pm,3pm,5pm,7pm,9pm and 11pm a winner will be chosen at random to receive a cash prize.
The highest score in each Division wins that Division.
Beginner Division Score is between 100 points and 199,900 points
Intermediate Division Score is between 200,000 points and 499,900 points
Semi-Pro Division Score is between 500,000 points and 999,900 points
Pro Division Score is 1 million and above.
If you have consistently played games ending with a score lower than 199,900 you are ranked in the Beginner Division.
And so on and so forth.
3 times is not a fluke rule: While playing games of Donkey Kong, you may have had a game with an ending score that was higher than the Beginner Division Score Cap.
That is an awesome event. But if you have only done it once...it could be a fluke, luck fate was favoring you that day. If you have done it twice, that is great
but not a for sure sign that you can do it again. Three times is a charm. If you have been able to score over 199,900 three times or more, welcome to the Intermediate
Division. And if for some reason during the Tournament you are able to score a game higher than 199,900, you have to right to choose to move to the Intermediate Division
but you are not forced to do so. IF you score over 199,900 three times during the Tournament, you will be required to move into the Intermediate Division.
We are all working to make this the best Kong Klash ever. Hope to see you all here!
