Has anyone had constant fast improvement score wise?
« on: March 24, 2013, 01:11:34 pm »
I've noticed some players tend to get good fast at games they enjoy, I've also noticed some players show steady improvment at games they don't fancy as much.  Some others I've noticed tend to progress at a moderate pace constantly and yet others seem to rest on laurels.  Which (Elton) brand are you?  I'm the lazy one.
In the summer that you came
There was something eating everyone
And the sunshine fund was low
We couldn't greet you with a simple hello

I can generally get the world record on a game the first time ever playing it, but I don't bother setting records for a couple of reasons.  One, video games bore me.  Two, I don't want to shatter fragile nerd dreams.  And three, between shooting a hundred porn movies a week and manning the space station, I'm not left with a lot of time.

Hey Vincent, does Ross know you've broken into his house and are using his PC?  Be careful not to go wild with the foreign language French films on pay-per-view; that will surely tip him off.

I'm kinda OCD, so I went all out once I got my machine.  Got it in March, progressed about 100k a week, got stuck at 600k for a couple weeks, then in May got 914k.  Then started playing at 1M pace, found it was much harder...eventually got 923k in October (woulda been 1M if I finished the game)...and that has been my high for months now.  I've had a handful of games in the 700-800k range at 1.05M pace, but always seem to mess them up.

I'm the kind of guy that improves step by step.

i don't set the bar to high for me, i want to be consistant, to get a certain goal and improve on it, at least on DK.

Slow and steady for me, I can confidently predict that I will hold both the arcade & mame records for DK some time around 2080 (age 107)

Depends on what type of game it is. For T&F, Hyper Sports, DD, Joust and Burgertime I have been getting/got better at a much faster rate than I did for DK. But IMHO there is much more randomness and strategy involved in DK than those games. I also tend to be able to memorize thinks super quickly, so that might explain part of it.
