With a final score of 760,800, Jon McKinnell broke his own world record, and became the first gamer to reach the killscreen (on 3 + 1 settings) without ever touching a single hammer.
Amazing accomplishment Jon! We're all very impressed. <YSG>

First ever NH KS awesome 8)
Congrats mate :)
-
Hugeee. Congrats dude! I expected you to be the first.
-
Kongratulations, Jon! Huge accomplishment, and well deserved.
I haven't yet watched, but the "Wow!" factor is off the charts. In fact, the charts required to adequately document this historic achievement have never been built. Would somebody please get to work on that?
-
Wow, that's awesome! Now people have to start point pressing no hammer. Probably the best place to start point pressing would be the spring stages, and basically trying to get a 7k average or so on those. After that, barrel grouping seems like the next thing to add, which is obviously going to add a lot of time and risk to the game. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of all the level averages in this game.
I hope someone makes a no hammer killscreen badge!

I'm on it, Jeff. Most likely later this evening.

Epic accomplishment Jon! Congrats man!
I hope someone makes a no hammer killscreen badge!
Done. Jon has a monopoly on the NH badges :)
-
Awesome, love it! Thanks Jeff

holy crap! congrats!

Congrats Jon, fantastic achievement!!

It's funny, just yesterday I was saying, "I should just bear down and play no-hammer until I get the first KS, it's just a numbers game, put in enough games and it will come", and then the very next day, bam!
It's totally appropriate that it was Jon. It was right for it to be him, Estel, or Jeff.
And now I don't have to put myself through that grind! ;D
-
Congrats! I knew it was gonna happen soon. I wish I had seen it live but I was too busy with BBW Facebook pages and Diving videos <Allen>
-
Congrats mate!! Huuuuuj!
-
Wow, excellent work man! Hammers are sooooo unnecessary!

Jon's historic NH killscreen game has been added to the DK Data Library (https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=304.msg15365#msg15365).
It's located 50 feet inside the north entrance to the newly renovated Mckinnell Wing, in case you get lost. ;)
-
lovit. just: love. it.
-
Awesome thanks guys, and thanks for your time Scott :)
I think I'll still be in no hammer mode for a while, after playing nothing else so far this year. I'll likely just try to repeat on arcade without serious pressing till after the tournament, then I'll start with barrels and springs as Jeff suggests, and go for 800+
