Title: Introduce yourself.
Post by: Monstabonza on February 09, 2013, 01:47:26 am
Hi I figured this thread couldn't hurt any newcomers such as my self so ill start off.

Hi my name is Nick I'm 29 and from central coast australia.
I've been playing donkey kong since about 1988 when I got it on the NES.
I stopped playing about 8 years later an didn't really start again until a friend showed me kok and pulled out his old dk game and watch and we played that for a few hours. This was about middle of 2011. Since then I've got mame started playing on that am recently purchased a machine with a 60 in 1 to play on. So far my high scores are 112000 mame and 125000 on the cabinet.
My main aim is probably playing on the nes for 500000 points and for 200000 on mame.

The main reason in here is because I have met some nice people on twitch who play dk and have heard about these forums. Just took me a while to find them:)

Nice to meet you all
Nick

Nice to meet you Nick! Another Australian player! You should connect with Allen Staal (he is muscleandfitness on twitch and in these forums), he lives in Sydney, so maybe you guys might be able to meet up and play some DK in the future. I know they wanted to setup some sort of Kong Off eventually with the other players downunda'.

Now to introduce myself:

I'm Mitchell Elliott. I'll be 23 in a month or so, and I've been playing DK since november 16th 2010. My personal best is 735K (which I'll improve significantly when I find the time), but I eventually want to get over 1.1m -hopefully by the end of this year. I also like to play lots of other games, 'cause I'd like to master several more in the next few years.

I'm also married to my wife Angela (been married for just over 2 years). I study Theology and Philosophy at Bethel University in Minnesota (which is where I live). In the summers I work construction, but I had a short stint of playing low-level professional football and also almost making the Minnesota Vikings. Other than that, I like to sing (was in choir as a 1st tenor for 14 years), write music, play guitar (have played mainly acoustic for 9 years), read, and hang out at the local arcade. :)

Playing DK has definitely been a great hobby for me to get into, since it's allowed me to make many new friendships and memories. It's also great to get to know people from different backgrounds and areas of the world different than my own.

I'm around on twitch and these forums most every day if you need to get a hold of me! You can also send me a friend request on facebook if you want.

Hey Mitch.
Nice to meet you. I have watched a few of your streams( one of the places I heard about this forum).
I've spoke to Allen before but he seems to keep asking me who I am and where I'm from:) ( that was my cab on fb the other day.

Also I'm a wood machinist so if any other Aussies need any help getting stuff to build a cab I may be able to help out.

Kind regards
   Nick

Thanks for making me feel ancient, Mitch.  When I was 23, you hadn't been born yet.  Neither had Vincent or Jeff Willms.  In fact, those statements were still true when I turned 30.  Ouch.

Since this is an introductions thread, it seems as good a place as any to create and maintain a list of forum members with user names matched up with real first names (optional participation, of course).

I don't mind getting it started.

stella_blue = Scott

"Stella Blue" is actually a Grateful Dead song from the 1973 album "Wake of the Flood".  Sorry Dave, I know I've subjected you to that useless bit of information on several occasions.

So now you don't have to type "hey stella" in the chat window during Twitch TV streams.  You still can, of course, but it will be by choice, not due to lack of awareness.   ;)

Wow, if I'm doing my math right, you might be the oldest active DK player!

Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's actually pretty cool.
