I finally got around to getting my burner to work in a windows environment.
Chris Psaros gave me his prized roms at KO3, the mystery -P (hard) set is now available to us all. Rename your old dkongjr.zip to something else and copy this file to your roms directory. I did not test it, i just read the chips and am making them available to you all.

Why does this matter? Tim was excluded out of KoK and was screwed out of 10k. That would have changed his life for the better. Billy and Steve are sellouts and KoK was not a true doc-u-men-tary. I mean let's be honest with ourselves. We need to ask what is the "Legal" definition of a doc-u-men-tary?

wow nice, who will kill screen this version first ?

I bet you Marky_DKJr-destroyer will do it secretly by the end of the week.

This is not the 'easy' rom set. This is the -p kit mentioned " Nintendo Service Department Bulletin # DJR-03 02-23-83"
I am going to read these with my old dos based burner as well. I am not getting the proper checksum that the bulletin says i should for the chips at 5b and 5c. I'll keep you all posted.
-
Ok, read them with my DOS based rom burner and results are the same. The checksums do no match the ones in the service bulletin. They do not match the originals either and there are def changes to the code in these roms. Take it for what its worth I guess.

Excellent Ken. These are playing in MAME as they did on the cab.
Looks like this kit is safe now...

Sent to the MAME team. 8)

Now available in the latest version of mame 152.
-
Tried it? What's the difference?
-
So the official ROM (MAME 0.152 and onward) is "dkongjrpb."
"b"??
Apparently MAMEdev has decided that what I submitted to them is a "bootleg" and not the real P-kit! wht da!
(Either that or somebody was unaware that the P-kit is an official Nintendo release.)
Anyway, attached is the ROMset to dump into your ROMs folder (which will be free of checksum errors).
As for differences, I go over some of them (with images) in this post:
https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=207.msg3948#msg3948 (https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=207.msg3948#msg3948)
(EDIT: reattached the .zip after remembering that only the two modified ROMs need to be in the dkongjrpb.zip, the rest are used from the parent dkongjr.zip)

Sounds like they do know about the P-Kit, but the ROMs they got didn't match what they were expecting, based on the Nintendo bulletin.
