Congrats to my buddy Shane who just killscreen'd DK!
What a great game Shane,
You deserve it mate!! ;)
Yer Buddy!
-
Congrats Shane!
What a crazy coincidence. I think it was the first time I went to Shane's channel and I see he's on L19. You got skillz!
Vincent, you lost your lowest 1st killscreen world record to Shane. I'm not sure if you're worth insulting anymore.

awesome! great job, shane. i knew it would happen very soon. love it!
-
Love it!
Great job Shane

Shane is the real deal, and he proved it with his game yesterday and now especially this game today. He will get into 870K with a new killscreen and then start those two hammer games with me! :)
-
Oh yer! Congrats, Shane!
-
¡¡Oh yer!!

Told ya you would get one before me! It's ok I'm putting up a 1 million point one tonight on you buddy. ;)
Congrats again!

No... please Hank, no... am I not good enough for you anymore? Oh please god, what did I do wrong?! I can get this lowest first kill screen record back, trust me! - Vincent Lemay logic
That being said, kongrats Shane mate, happy for you ;-).
-
Well done, Shane. Congratulations on a DK milestone!
As usual, I'm late to the celebration. Shane, I'm happy for your success, but I am dismayed to learn that most of the party snacks were ravaged prior to my arrival. The Hershey's Miniatures are gone, as are the Hot Pockets and Totino's Pizza Rolls. The bowl of pistachio nuts is almost empty, except for the ones that are practically impossible to open.
All that's left is 1/2 container of low fat cottage cheese. What am I supposed to do with that?!

Thanks everyone, I really apprieciate it! I will be trying to play at a 900K place from my next KS.
I am thinking with just a few small additions I can hopefully achieve a 880-905K KS without changing much of my game, and hopefully being able to achieve this within the next month.
--------------------------------------------------
1) I am going to take both hammers on 1-1, and lvls 5 and 6.
2)try to get good value + blue barrel smashs for my top hammers,
3) take all prizes on elevators lvl 2-3 and leeching the fireball on the right platform.
4) taking both (umbrella + purse) prize on all elevators lvl 4+
--------------------------------------------------
hopefully by changing these few things, I can greatly increase the chances of my next KS being around or over 900k, and do so fairly quickly, while almost minimizing my restart time by frontloading the majority of my points. Any thought on my approach would be greatly apprieciated

Shane, your approach (plus additions) sounds very similar to my current strategy, which I've detailed here:
My Poser Pace Blueprint (https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=472.msg8669#msg8669)
The key differences are:
- Elevator prizes: I collect all 3, all the time (although a few deaths will change that in a hurry)
- Bottom hammers: I've opted to use both hammers on Levels 01, 04, and 05
I don't always strictly adhere to my plan; it's more of a general guideline. Bottom hammers in particular are often a spontaneous, gametime decision.
There's one item I neglected to list among my basic rules. When leeching Kong on the rivet boards, if all fire objects except one are trapped on the left, I'll leave the 2 top right rivets intact. If 2 or more are on my side of the screen (or could potentially wander over), I'll clear the 2nd rivet from the top. I can jump over a firefox on the top platform and survive 50-75% of the time, but I don't want to risk an avoidable death for the sake of a few hundred taunting points.

Those are some nice ideas to improve your pace without taking very much extra risk Shane.
Another idea you might want to try along the way is to do different things with each of your 4 men. So, for example, go ahead with your plan and add your four pace improvements as listed. But, if you happen to make it to the end of Level 6 on your first man, go ahead and continue grabbing the bottom hammer on Level 7 barrel boards. Continue doing this until your first death, then immediately switch to a top hammer only strategy. Perhaps after two deaths, go ahead and eliminate improvement number 4 so that you have maximum comfort on elevator screens. Maybe after the third death go ahead and skip the top hammer on barrels, although that would hurt your pace pretty significantly -- perhaps just begin taking it at the first available opportunity and don't worry at all about maximizing your value with the top hammer once you're on your last man.
I have found that this sort of approach can provide for an unexpected high scoring game if you really get in the zone on your first man, and it provides a way of immediately making things easier upon dying -- the point at which most of us get a bit mentally rattled -- in order to help prevent that "back to back deaths" syndrome and to keep your confidence high.
Try it both ways and see what you think.

I'd also like to say congratulations buddy ;)
maybe i should get practicing ;D
-
congrats man! awesome stuff
-
Congrats. I am happy you finally are no longer a beginner! ;) Sadly, I am still one because I have not hit the killscreen. :'(
-
Sorry been out of the loop awhile. Shane congrats!!!! I knew you could do it! Playing that safe pace really paid off! You'll get adjusted to a 900k pace probably fairly easy. Small adjustments can pay large dividends. You'll See.

Oh yer, Shane just got his second KS with 865,300!!! He has passed Brian Allen and Christian now! ;)

love it, one week later 865,300

Holy crap dude you just became a beast! That has to be the quickest 2nd kill screen follow up to a first kill screen. I've literally only had one game in-between your kill screens lol. Great job!
-
Actually, Jeff Harrist did the same last year. ;D
Got his first and then his second right away.
-
2 kill screens in a week, good show
-
Chris I thought Jeff got his first one during a tournament this year?

I got my first one on MAME on November 10th last year. I got my second one on Arcade the next morning, a little less than 24 hours later. :)
Congrats again Shane!

Sounds like you experienced a difficult transition. ;)
