For the first time in over 11 years and 5 months, someone other than Dean Saglio holds the Donkey Kong MAME world record! A few hours ago, Justin scored 1,206,900...passing Dean by a mere 100 points and matching the exact score Robbie got for his first 1.2M game. This makes Justin the 5th player to cross the 1.2M threshold, and only the 2nd player on MAME. In fact, this is only the second time 1.2M has ever been achieved on MAME!
We all knew it was coming and it happened during a tournament no less! Congrats finkel finkeI!
While this is obviously Justin's moment, and Dean has been surpassed on arcade by Wes, Robbie, and John, I think we should all take a moment to appreciate Dean and his legendary achievements and contributions to this game and community.

Congratulations to Justin on his outstanding score! From watching his gameplay in recent months and talking with him about the game and his plans and goals, I knew that it was only a matter of time. His gameplay is solid, smooth and consistent. I'm confident that he will improve this score in the future but this is a major threshold and a huge accomplishment.
Thanks to Jeremy for his continued huge effort in organizing, adjudicating, and presenting these games -- I think that a big part of this ongoing interest from these newer players and the overall growth in this community is due to his efforts over the years.
I look forward to more friendly competition in the future!

dean - as i've said to others, i consider you to be one of the ultimate legends of this game. without you, i would never have put up this score, and it's very likely that nobody would have put up scores like this, period. you re-defined the way the entire game was played. i may have passed your score (temporarily, since i know you'll smoke it any day now!), but i could never come close to achieving your status as a DK legend. thank you for everything.

There isn't a lot of new MAME scores nowadays, so it's nice to see another 1.2m+ on MAME.
