Let me start by saying this is not a brag, because it's slightly pathetic. I know. That said, dude am I pumped.
I finally beat my Donkey Kong record last night (arcade). I'd been stuck at 143,xxx for two years. That was my plateau. In my defense, I don't get to play a lot because I have young kids and try not to play too much when they're awake. But being stuck there has bugged me for some time.
Yesterday I decided to do something about it. Amazingly, finally, I pushed through the plateau and wound up at 190,900. Level 7. In that moment I felt like I could tackle an elephant (a baby one, but still). Or perhaps an ape?
Anyway, once I actually got to levels 6 and 7 things seemed to get easier. Which is what you all say. Things repeat. Yay!
So, I'm far far away from a kill screen. And yet, after last night for the first time in a while with this game I finally feel some hope.

Watchout Level 7 can be nasty!

Congrats Paul! It always feels good to break your personal best. After level 5, everything repeats...so with some practice and patience...you can make it to the end...keep at it!

I remember when I first started playing this game more regularly, getting to and getting past "6 monkeys high" was a big deal, and was the first major plateau for me as well. Congrats on your breakthrough game!

Thanks guys. It feels nice to be able to post here without feeling like a newb.
I plan on breaking 200k this weekend.

Congratulations, Paul. You've increased your PB by more than 30%. That's a significant leap forward.
Hope indeed!
