Title: Top 3 CAG sounds
Post by: fruitygayspaghetti on April 24, 2014, 11:59:16 am
1) Elevator Action - the squash.  there is nothing more satisfying than hearing a dude struggle against the oncoming force of an elevator.

2) Zoo Keeper - running.  sounds like a fking machine gun.  loveit.

3) Journey - everything.

Some great choices thus far.

I'll go:

1) Lion capture sound - Zoo Keeper
2) Coin Drop/Credit - Taito Games (80-82 era)
3) Intro Music - Galaga

1) Lion capture sound - Zoo Keeper
I thought of that one earlier today too.  Great sound.  But I'll pick some other ones.

1) Pole Position attract mode sound
2) Bach soundtrack on Gyruss
3) The cheesy western music of Wild Western on the bonus rounds

Speaking of Zoo Keeper did anyone else see Ross' game last night (http://www.twitch.tv/dwwnp/b/522533398)?  (Starts at 1:07:00.)  "I'll try one game of Zoo Keeper, how 'bout that?  One game...  And then I think I'm gonna call it an early night."  Over an hour and 32 million points later he screams in frustration while entering his initials after getting screwed out of his last four lives.  I watched almost the entire game on my phone while eating dinner.  Finished eating and decided to watch the rest before heading back to my truck to go to sleep.  Then the damned restaurant was about to close and it was still going on.  LOL!

Such FailFish on my part - that game ended so poorly, grrrr!

ZK induces rage in me like nothing else, though someday I may detail what I think is behind some its nonsense, as a sort of catharsis.  Without having looked at any code, I have formulated what I think are some reasonably accurate theories (and none of them involve moods  ::) ).

BACK ON TOPIC (and a great topic it is):

I love the music in Vanguard that plays after getting energized.

2. Robotron spawn sound

You mean the Williams Robotron human-grab/Joust spawn sound, right?

Without a doubt, that belongs on the top five, and if it came down to picking a winner, it might have to be that.

Yeah, the human grab sound I like better, actually, but I was actually thinking just the sound that happens as you spawn on each board.

Bit o' trivia for you then... it's lifted directly from Queen's "Vultan's Theme (Attack of the Hawk Men)" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PQEHXJeJhw) from the Flash Gordon soundtrack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_Gordon_%28soundtrack%29).

After you lose your last life on Stratovox.  I think it's Fur Elise in 8 bit form.
