I was on 150k for about 2 years because I'm stubborn and refused to watch how to pass the springboard level.  Once I figured it out my next game was 500k or so.  I used to think it was like the 3rd elevators in DK but that's not fair to DK because the rest of DK Jr is so much easier to run than DK is.

Well to be fair Donkey Kong has 116 boards, and DK Jr only has 80 boards.   I do have to admit that it would be almost impossible to get to the 80th board on a person's 17th day though.  So yeah, Donkey Kong overall is harder than Donkey Kong Junior from what I have seen.

Also though it should be noted a decent number of players who have had success originally with Donkey Kong Junior went on to have some success with Donkey Kong.  That includes Ike Hall, Mark Kiehl, Myself, Brian Allen, Mike Kasper, Clayton Brookins, and Graham Wolfe was showing a lot of promise as well.

So Donkey Kong maybe harder, but it can't be that much harder if everyone who started off with DK Jr. went on, and did fairly well with Donkey Kong.

Thanks guys. Please feel free to post your own timelines in this thread. Although getting to the killscreen would have been nice last night, I did essentially achieve my goal of getting through the game to the end. Therefore, I decided that I will just go for one million point attempts now. There really isn't any point going for just a killscreen. Just getting to level E.4 was sufficient for my purposes. I should be able to get a million by just jumping out the hideout, and getting a couple more easy smashes, like at the top of the vine board. I mostly just ran boards for this latest score, until I beat my pb and then I pressed to drive it up.

Funny that you followed in the footsteps of Steve Wagner and myself with the E-4 failscreen! It's becoming a pattern with Junior, I guess.

It does make a certain amount of sense though. I would say that the average key screen is probably harder/more dangerous than the average rivet screen.

Here is my early Junior timeline as compiled from e-mails that I saved. I was keeping a friend updated after he challenged me to get back to my bitd score of 279k, after scoring 80k on an arcade machine. The majority of these increases of personal bests were done on mame, the last two were done on arcade.

5/10/09 80k (arcade)
5/12/09 130k
5/13/09 133k

I would ask for the 1.2 M Jr badge, but again how would that be differentiated with the M used for DK? I like the idea since I am kinda short on badges. :D
