Seems to have dropped yesterday, Hi-Score mode leaderboard needs some filling out. I am currently 29th, go kick my butt guys! 8)
The Japanese version and English version are available in original mode, Hi-Score Mode appears to only have the English version available this time. This is unlike the DK and DK Jr. releases, but I assume that's the more competitive one anyway if there's even any notable differences. I also assume Hi-Score mode defaults to the default difficulty (I don't know this for sure), would be nice to have one for the hardest but considering there are other difficulties they probably figured it would split things up too much.
Also, thank you all for recommending this game to me! When I was lurking here a few months back after DK Jr. Released, a lot of people here said this was a more fun score game, and it certainly is fun!

What are the top 10 scores? 8)
Very happy this came out. It'll be a good three months before I think about buying a switch. So it'll be a leader board without me at the top.

Top 10 for Hi-score mode at the moment are
1 (Japanese Player) 413800
2 JVeg199X 319000
3 Zotmeister 311400
4 Extend-119 310500
5 Mappi 298000
6 Esperle 282500
7 (Japanese Player) 242600
8 (Japanese Player) 235900
9 (Japanese Player) 230000
10 Walu 219400
I made it to 25th now btw, but especially because of that I'm sure these are all child's play for you lol. These leaderboards usually fill out a decent bit more as time goes on and this is brand new, Wes is top on DK on Switch last I checked. Though it does depend on the game. I am 9th on the Sky Skipper leaderboards and it has been out for months, I'm sure I'm nothing special at that game either.
I look forward to your score whenever you can make it on though!

Did it come out in Japan earlier?
I think all but Zotmeister are Japanese

I look at the scores, and think, that they are not that high, but then I think, wait, it took years before R.U. got to that level. Million point scores are soon to follow.

I think these releases come out in Japan like a day before. Side note, I recognize Esperle in 6th place as the top score holder on the ACA switch version of Sky Skipper.

Are the game settings adjustable? If so, how is the difficulty labeled?
-
Did somebody say my name?
I may hold the #2 position for now but I fully expect my score to be demolished by the awesome players in this community.
Also, I'm not Japanese. ;)
Anyway, the difficulty settings are labeled:
- Easy (default)
- Normal
- Somewhat difficult
- Hard
I have noticed a couple of minor emulation issues. The sound effect priority is a bit off- the sound made by the blue wasps barely even plays. Plus, any sprites that touch the left side of the screen disappear as long as they are touching that edge, which means the worm that crawls on the very bottom of the stage can catch you off-guard if you're not careful. It doesn't break the game by any means, but it's a bit of a bummer. I hope Hamster fixes it - they have done minor fixes to other games.

Thanks for listing those! Now we have even more names for the different difficulty levels. FailFish At least they labeled Easy and Hard in line with the original manual.
DK3 Manual | MAME | TG Arcade | Switch Arcade Archives |
Easy (1) | Easy | | Easy |
(2) | Medium | | Normal |
(3) | Hard | Medium [3] | Somewhat difficult |
Hard (4) | Hardest | | Hard |

Can anyone tell what the difficulty is on Hi-Score mode and Caravan mode? I assume it's the easiest since that's the default in the others, does that make those leaderboards not as competitive if it's not "Somewhat Difficult" or "Hard" difficulty?
Sucks to hear about the emulation issues, these hamster releases don't usually have any notable ones. But yeah at least it's nothing gameplay related.

"somewhat difficult" FailFish

I need a different controller for the switch it's terrible. I managed to get 1st place so far on the caravan mode but it's just to hard to control for a full game I just want to pull my hair out

This will let you use whatever controller you want (and there is zero input delay from what i hear): https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=magic+ns&qid=1554770122&s=gateway&sr=8-3
Outside of that there are a number of cheap options, like 8bitdo M30 bluetooth edition (it has a wired mode), and the pokken controller. I personally use a later model switch pro controller (the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 one, but any more recently made one should do), of course that's more expensive.

Good news: the game has been updated to fix the problem in which sprites disappear while touching the left edge of the screen!
Bad news: The audio problems are still present, at least with the blue wasp sound. Keeping my fingers crossed that they eventually get fixed.

How do I get the fix onto my copy, delete and redownload? Has the Mario Bros. release been updated yet, so that bonus stages are every THREE levels, not four?
