Title: What Kongs are OK to talk about?
Post by: homerwannabee on January 27, 2013, 02:59:30 pm
Of course this would come from me, but what Kongs are cool to talk about on this forum?

Is it only Donkey Kong, or can Donkey Kong Junior, and Donkey Kong 3 be talked about since Donkey Kong is in their name?  If not that, how bout Donkey Kong II since that game is very similar to the original Donkey Kong even if it came out in 2005.

How bout Crazy Kong?  The European version of Donkey Kong.

I personally think all Kongs would be fine. I own DK Jr and D2K as well. It would be nice to share strategies and personal bests on all kong platforms.

Hey George!

Good to have you aboard! I want to keep things pretty relaxed here. There's no rules about what games you can and can't discuss. I think DKJr, DKII, DK3 and any "Kong" variation are fine to discuss here and I'll let the interest dictate whether or not we need a subforum for them in the future.

Thanks!

Jeff

I would certainly not be opposed to Jr., D2K, and DK 3 subforums! And there are definitely Crazy Kongers among us (myself included).

Actually, a single "Other Kongs" forum would probably do the job, as the main focus is definitely gonna be DK.

I agree with Chris. It may just be best to start a sub-forum specifically for all the other Kongs to keep them consolidated and easy to find.

Good stuff. I look forward to some good talk about all the Kong games (especially Junior haha). I guess I'll state here that this forum was definitely needed. The Donkey Kong series games are probably the most played CAG games right now, so naturally there is going to be a lot of talk about them. I totally understand how this may annoy people who aren't fans of the games, so having a place where Kong series players can post free from this concern is a win-win for both "sides" of the coin.

What about Donkey Kong Country? Donkey Kong GBA? Konkey Dong? Donkey Bong? Some other spin on the title "Donkey Kong" that isn't actually a real game but just something I made up?

Anything Kong related?

What about King Kong (The movie)?
We can also talk about the city of Hong Kong (is it a city?)

Joke aside, I think it should only be Donkey Kong game arcade related (not console related).

I'm gonna have to vote "no" on anything that isn't in the classic arcade game series.

DKC and all that are a completely different kind of thing.

I'd like to keep the focus on the arcade games. To be honest, I don't even know what Donkey Kong Country is.  :o

I agree, this forum should mainly be about the arcade versions. However I see no harm in having a thread or two for the DK, DKjr, and DK3 versions for the NES, since these are relatively similar, and we do have a few experts at them involved in this forum (at least registered). I think it would be cool to see a list of exactly all the big ways these ports are different than their arcade parents. And, yeah, Donkey Kong Country is just way too different of a game to have on this forum.
