George Riley is so far beyond the rest of the Donkey Kong 3 competition, it's a fair question to ask: what is actually a good DK3 score? It wouldn't be proper for Riley to answer that question himself since 1) he might be biased as the WR holder and 2) he's George Riley. So, I've come up with the definitive formula for judging DK3 scores, on any setting:
RILEY ÷ 5
Whatever Riley's PB is on a particular DK3 setting, divide that by 5 and that gives you the value for a good score on those settings. Thus:
Setting George Riley Riley ÷ 5
Difficulty 1 - Marathon 13,957,600 2,791,500
Difficulty 1 - 5 Lives 2,532,100 506,400
Difficulty 2 - Marathon 8,772,700 1,754,500
Difficulty 2 - 5 Lives 1,513,000 302,600
Difficulty 3 - Marathon 6,108,200 1,221,600
Difficulty 3 - 5 Lives 1,303,000 260,600
Difficulty 4 - Marathon 2,407,400 481,500
Difficulty 4 - 5 Lives 661,700 132,300

Nice thread Jry, the most original on here for a long time.
I have a feeling by Christmas your equation may change to
Strain - 50k = Barrow - 75k = Riley ÷ 5 = Everyone else.

Surprisingly your simple system works for the most part. I was going to say, go with the top 10%, but that has it's problems.
For instance a top 10% score for Donkey Kong is 971k. A top 10% score for Donkey Kong 3 marathon easy is 1.1 million. Sorry 971k on Donkey Kong is WAY harder to achieve than 1.1 million on DK3 easy.
So surprisingly it's probably better than my slightly more complicated percentage system.

Ok here is how it works
A good DK score is calculated as:
Riley's PB + x (where x is positive)

850k is still top 100. I'm also a top 100 arcade/mame gamer. So why limit myself to one game?
