Title: Donkey Kong Remix Project
Post by: FrizzleFried on November 11, 2016, 06:45:48 am
I am not sure if this is allowed in this forum (it seems to be primarily a "gaming" forum rather than a "collecting/restoring" forum,  but I digress).  If it's not,  I apologize.  In any case,  many of you may know me from the KLOV or BYOAC forums where I have been a member for many years.   I am taking on a Donkey Kong Remix project and figured you folks might be interested in reading up on it.

After a bad experience purchasing some of the artwork available for Donkey Kong Remix from a vendor,  I decided to "roll my own" of sorts... I am expecting the final result from another vendor soon (the art package was shipped yesterday).  Next step is to strip/sand/bondo and then paint.

Here is a shot of the artwork prior to being shipped to me... (I based the "look" of the art on the Donkey Kong flyer ... with the general "feel" of the original DK art... and keep in mind I am no artist... just a hack.)..

It looks great!  I really dig that it doesn't deviate too far from DK's original color scheme.  It looks like this art would just naturally fit in and not look out of place on a cabinet sitting next to an original DK cabinet.

Will this set of artwork be available for anyone looking for some DK Remix art?

Thanks for posting this, I'm looking forward to reading more blog entries in the future!

Yes,  this art will be available shortly.  I'll post where you can purchase when it happens.  I'm pretty exited as the art should be here today.

Unfortunately "life" has gotten in the way of me completing this cabinet.  It'll happen.  Until then,  here's a sketchup model of what it will look like when it's done.

Well,  I purchased the paint... primer... and bondo.   I just need to get the motivation to go to work on the cabinet.  I made the mistake of getting the game up and running great first... when I do that I tend to take longer to get projects completed.  I should ALWAYS focus on cabinet work first.

:D

Agreed, that looks great!

Are you going to do one for DK Junior remix as well in the future?   ;D
