Does anyone know how to fix this? I haven't used the machine in 4 years or so and this is what appears on the screen.

I was thinking of selling this machine but I grew up with this game and really think it is the best game ever made.

Looks like the Z80 is not running. This could be the Z80 or RAM or ROM or clock generator or other stuff (in that order of likeliness probably) because the Z80 depends on all sort of other hardware in order to run.

The easiest first thing to try, especially considering it has been sitting unused for a long time, is to pull the Z80 out of it's socket and then put it back in. (With the power disconnected, of course.)

Sometimes the contacts in sockets get corroded over time and break connection. Maybe just a simple slap to the center of the board (while the machine is unplugged) for some 'percussive maintenance' would restore loose pin connections.

This is definately z80 related, as sock said. Carefully remove and reseat all eprom chips (including the forementioned z80) and turn the machine back on. Use this guide to help you accomplish this: youtube.com/watch?v=RkSCh53fO6Y

I bought a TKG-3 upright (4 board stack) last November with the same type of gibberish on the screen. I reseated all the chips and it was a working Kong once again. Good luck.
