Hey guys, I made a google map that anyone can place markers on to mark where they live. Feel free to contribute if you are comfortable. If you don't feel comfortable giving your exact address, just put a marker randomly in your current home city. Please give a title to your marker that is your forum username. If you want, you can also give your real name in the description. You may have to make a google account to contribute to this. I hope this works out like I intend/is practical and ends up being ok with people. Thanks!

this is a cool idea Mitch, marker added!

-
I planted a marker and claim this land for DK players ;)
-
Added!
-
Great idea, can someone give a quick tutorial how to add a maker. My google account is logged in, just don't see the function to add a marker.
-
You should just have to hit the red 'edit' button on the left side of the map. Then some options will pop up on the top-left corner of the map area. Click on the marker and place it where you want. Add a title (your DKF username) and a description (your real name, if you are ok with that). Again, just place it somewhere randomly in your home city if you don't wanna let the world know your specific address! ;)
Glad people are taking to this idea. Can't wait for there to be a lot of markers so we can actually visually see where our DK "family members" all live!
-
OK, got it, thanks Mitch. Amazing the spread already just from the first 6.
Yes, great idea, love seeing stuff like this.
-
Added, Couldn't resist... ;D

Just a quick note, I noticed a couple markers may have been moved by accident. For instance, it looks like Jeff Wolfe's marker has been moved to New Mexico, even though he lives near Denver, CO.
Perhaps some people aren't aware they can move markers and resave them...so just something to look out for.
-
Yeah. I realized that people could easily troll this map (even people not registered with this forum), but it was a risk I thought could be taken, since 1) most people wouldn't care about something so trivial, and 2) trolling this map would not be all that effective, since we could easily out-crowd-scource the troll by correcting everything in almost no time.
As far as the markers being moved in this case, it seems like it may just be an honest mistake. 'DK3CHAMP' (which I assume is George Riley) may have accidentally moved Jeff and my markers (I moved mine back already, Jeff can move his back when he sees this post). Also, it looks like 'Shelby' may have moved Hank's a bit, but I'm not sure how far -all it says is that Shelby was the last editor of Hank's marker. Everyone just check your markers from time to time to make sure they are accurate. If some sort of big trollfest happens, the first person to see it can let us all know and it can be fixed up quickly. Thanks.

I'm Shelby, if I moved Hanks it was an accident. I did not know that I could even move other people's markers.
-
Yeah, no problem. I was pretty sure it was an honest mistake. I almost did the same thing myself at one point!
Edit: Haha! I actually just accidentally moved Chris Psaros', but there is the option to 'undo' any changes. So if that happens to you, just click 'undo'. I also moved Jeff Wolfe's marker back to pretty close to where I originally saw it placed to the east of Colorado Springs. Hope this was ok to do, since I didn't know if he keeps up with every post on here and would see that it needed fixing.
-
Thanks Mitch, I might like living in new mexico this time of year or a little closer to town but I guess I'll stick to living in the boonies. Marker moved :D

Undo, ok got it, thanks. I will make sure that I do that if it happens again.

When i get sometime I'm gonna have to do this. How do you view the map of everyone?

The link is in the first post of the thread : https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=213256120776359199611.0004db20a60dbe8a9a8ba&msa=0&ll=65.219894,4.921875&spn=98.492639,312.890625
-
I'm on an iPhone and it just sends me to my map for directions. Doesn't show others locations. I'm gonna wait till I get home and hopefully it will work on my home pc.
-
Added a Marker.
-
Ben lives in Indiana. I can't even say I'm the best Dk player in my state. Lol. At least I can say maybe my city.
-
I really liked this idea so I added it as a related link on the Donkey Kong High Score List
-
Thanks, Corey. Hopefully we can get some more non-USA residents to place a marker! (But more USA markers would still be good as well! ;) )
-
I'm going to need brush up on my time zones (http://www.worldtimezone.com/)!

Hi John, just saw your name in the player registry and that you are in Baton Rouge. I live in Metairie, good to see another DK'er close by.
-
So we just need an South American, African , and an Asian region, an we've pretty much covered the globe.
-
Hi guys...Im from South Africa so i guess for now im representing Africa all by myself:)
-
Yes!!! Our first, known, African DK player!!! Welcome!
-
Jeff Wolfe, I hope you and all your friends and family remain safe during this Black Forest fire. I just saw the news and also saw that you aren't too far away from where all this is taking place.
-
Kind of interesting that most Donkey Kong players seem to be in east USA. I wonder why?
-
I agree that this is interesting!
I'm kinda blown away that I'm the only Californian, actually. 1 in 8 Americans lives here, yet I'm the only one out of the almost 30 Americans on the map!
-
I was pretty excited to be the only Hawaii resident playing DK, but now my wife has joined me. :'(
:P
-
Thanks Mitch, I'm about 20 miles away from the fire. A lot of friends had to evacuate but none of them ended of losing their homes. Almost 500 families did lose them but only two lost their lives getting out. The community has really come together to help and the firefighting now is mostly clean up duty. Its quite a sight to see when when these things happen as all the efforts of man can do very little without some help. I thank God that the winds turned and some unexpected rain fell to let the firefighters hold their lines.
-
Just put myself on the map....we need more DK players in the UK!!
-
Wow! That's great to hear, Jeff (overall). Glad you and the people you know are safe!
Chris, isn't Eric Tessler from California?
-
So we just need an South American, African , and an Asian region, an we've pretty much covered the globe.
South American = like Florida? Billy Mitchell lives there, and Eric Howard moved there also.
African = well there's a guy that just said he was from South Africa! Yer buddy
Asian region = well, Hank is from Taïwan (although he didn't spend that many years there). Does it count?
After Twin Galaxies International, here comes Donkey Kong International!
-

I remember talking to someone on my stream a while back that was from brazil, don't know if he actually made it to the forum tho, sai he was around 180-200k at the time.
As for hank well I guess it's his call to where he is from ;)
-
Chris, isn't Eric Tessler from California?
Yeah, but he needs to get his butt on this map before I acknowledge it.
-
I was pretty excited to be the only Hawaii resident playing DK, but now my wife has joined me. :'(
:P
Well, I'm currently no threat :)
-
Mitch i did my home 3 times how do you get the two off and leave one and change it to my name lol
-
Wow...
Ok, I fixed it, Allen.
-
Ok, I fixed it, Allen.
Did you leave the correct marker, Mitch? Currently, you've got Allen afloat (we hope) in the Tasman Sea. :o
-
Wht da! Lemme look. Maybe I did an inadvertent click after I set it...
Edit: I 'fixed' it (Allen, I got it close to where I remember it being, but you'll have to put exactly where you want it), but just looking at the time the marker was last edited it wasn't me that put it there. Hmm...
-
added!
-
Added; only one from New Zealand!!!
-
Nice! I have some cousins that live in Christchurch!
-
Oh good, Daniel is now also on here to represent Calfornia.
Which technically includes Kayla...
-
Added. If anyone is ever going to be at Barcade Jersey City, please let me know. I live around the corner.
-
Bump! (well... as much as you can bump something that is already fixed at the top of sub-forum...)
I know there are tons of newer people on DKF who have yet to place a marker! Please do so, if you are comfortable!
-
Long time player, first time poster. I've added a marker for me. I'm excited to see with the DK Forum has to offer in the way of good people and fun gaming talk.
-
Holy shit! It's johnbart! :) The gaming world needs you to revive the CAG league badly.
-
Johnathan Bart-Q! Hugs and love <3
-
What's up, JB?
-
Great to see so many familiar and friendly faces. I've dropped off the face of the earth for a while due to real life and becoming a Euro thug. I was on the west coast last week and got to meet up with Ken and that got me realizing how much I missed the people from this scene. The games are fun but the people are even better, as long as you can stay out of the typical internet flame trenches :)
I am an admitted DK n00b but I'm willing to work on improving. I love the content you all have put together on the game. It's amazing the detail and dedication the the games. Best of luck to everyone involved with KO3. I'll be watching and cheering.
-
Hay Mitch , i think Phil in waterloo ontario Canada and Jeff Wilms kitchener ontario Canada there like twin citys vary close to each other ... can you add me pls im in Midland ontario Canada :)
-
Added, DK on the map ;)
-
Added!
-
This is great, guys! I know there are still a ton of people on DKF who haven't yet placed a marker... if you haven't yet, please do! It's pretty cool seeing where everyone is located, and just know that you don't have to be a huge scorer or someone really well known in the community to jump in on this. Thanks! :)
-
new to the forum and added my location
-
Sweet! I've been to Winnipeg. Nice city.
-
added to the map, first player from south america :)
-

-

Love it.

-
South America, represent. Welcome!
-
On the map, Tennessee in tha house!

This is a really cool tool. Just added myself, and if the stamps are accurate I'm living down the road from another player!

-

-
Ok, I fixed mine. Though I might have messed up Rick or JPF or whatever it is, I was in a pile of three and kept thinking I was grabbing mine.
-
Looks like I am the official DK ambassador to Texas, I promise to not abuse my power ;)
-
Added to the map. Just picked up a 100% original DK cab!!
Charlotte, NC 8)
-
Nice, I live just outside of Charlotte in Union County. I've got a DK Jr cab, but I took the board out and put DK+D2K in it.
-
Added! Have a DK cab and am getting close to breaking 100K - passed the 3rd elevators a few days ago only to meet my demise by a random barrel on the next stage finishing my best ever game at 93,700
I'll get there!
-
Love it! Welcome aboard! <Allen>
-
yer buddy! welcome to DKF <Billy>
-
I'm new here, first to claim Iowa. Its cool to see where everyone is from, great idea.
-
Hi all,
New to the board, added a marker. Looks like I'm the first Rhode Islander 8)
Always loved DK but never felt right playing it on MAME. I got a multicade machine in October. That also didn't really feel right. Finally got a pure DK machine about a month. Haven't touched the multicade machine since ;D My DK machine needs a little work. It's 100% playable but the speaker makes a buzzing noise (audio plays fine tho) and the joystick is a little loose. Also the screen jumps around a bunch when it first starts up (may need to be re-capped, not sure). I locks into place after about 10 minutes.
My current high score is 200k but getting better every week. I try to play at least an hour a night after the wife and kids go to bed <Wiebe>

Love it <Allen> Love it? Welcome to the forums. You should post some pics of your cabinet some time Kreygasm
-
Awesome!
Yeah I've played on several multicades before. They definitely don't feel the same. Your high score will improve in no time here.
Dean Saglio and Eric Howard (DK players) are also from RI. Dean may not have registered on the map and Eric I think retired from DK.

Retired and coincidentally moved to Florida. :D

Retired and coincidentally moved to Florida. :D
Not even Helen of troy took this much abuse <Billy>

Thanks for the warm welcome :D
Here's a pic of my game room/kids' playroom:

The 60-1 is fully reconditioned. Plays great, no issues with it. Got it from a CL guy in upstate NY who had a basement full of reconditioned 60-1 cabinets. The one I ended up with was the only one he had with a trackball 8)
The DK machine was another CL score from a couple right outside of Boston. I saw their CL post at work on a Friday, had some drinks that night and decided to send a drunken low-ball offer. Luckily they were moving to Arizona that week and were eager to sell it. Drunken low-ball offer accepted. Picked up the next day.
-
Nice machines! Galaga and Minecraft, together finally at last...
Welcome and good luck with your games!
-
Haha thanks, the Galaga skin pack is awesome
-
Oh yer! Love it and welcome! <Allen>
-
Hey, Jumpman, I see that you're from Mason City, IA. I'm from Minneapolis. Let me know if you're ever swinging by the Twin Cities and I'd be more than willing to give you a tour of the town and/or show you the best Arcades. :)
-
Miketastic has added, great to see a few other people living in the York of Not-Old
-

That sounds good. I always look at Minneapolis cl for games, I will let you know when I come up there.
-
Yo, Jry, Katie, make sure to update your location. First DK peeps in Asia, hype! Kreygasm
While I'm at it... BUMP... for anyone who hasn't seen this yet and would be willing to add their location!
-
I just add me to your world map.
Omg... I'm alone in France ! <gasp>
-
Lovit! With any luck, you won't be alone for long... classic gaming seems to be slowly spreading! New arcades seem to be opening up in Europe, so that is exciting!
-
Bump! Make sure to add yourself to the map if you haven't already (if you are comfortable doing so, of course)! <Walter>
-
Hi...I'm new to this forum and new to Donkey Kong (unless you count the few times I played as a 9 year old in 1982). I've been playing DK on WolfMAME for a couple months and am in the 200-300k range (as of 28MAY2016)...hoping to continue improving. I love playing DK and reading the posts on this forum.
I added my marker in Lowell Massachusetts!
What a wonderful idea. I love looking at the map and seeing where my Donkey Kong "family" lives. Many thanks for this great forum and wonderful map.
P.S. I'm an hour and a half drive from the FunSpot arcade (Laconia NH) of King of Kong fame. Anyone want to meet there and play some DK?
Thanks again guys.
-
Now come on J.C. give the kid a break , dont be so hard on him , he will understand you and what it is you want ... :)
-
Awesome, Brian! Nice to have you here!
-
Added marker! Syracuse, New York... well Camillus anyway.
-
My marker's been added. Philadelphia, PA is now on the map.
-
Welcome aboard sir; I used to live at 49th and Trinity, walking distance from Dock Street, love it? <Allen>
-
Thanks for having a place for all things Donkey Kong. I am the proud owner of an original DK 4b cocktail that I will soon start the restore on. This will be my 4th restore - 2nd Nintendo.
-
Added. Hailing from Las Vegas.
-
Flag added. Central Coast Australia. In this huge wide world it looks like Monsta Bonza lives within walking distance of my place! :o
-
Finally added to the map. Current DK PB is 90k. Current CK PB is 89k. Both will be climbing higher than grandpa’s waistline this year. Bet on it.
Saint Marys, WV, USA
-
Added!
-
Added me, too. Right in the heart of Germany, in the beautiful countryside of Ostwestfalen-Lippe :)
-
I added myself. When I am logged into Google, I see myself. If I log out and view it anonymously, I don't see myself. Not sure if it will just take a few minutes to be viewable anonymously, but hopefully I'm there.
-
New to the boards just added a pinpoint to Sheboygan, Wi. Picked up a cabinet and got it running a few months. I'm putting up garbage scores mostly because I need to practice the spring boards.
-
It was brought to my attention that the privacy on my link somehow went from public to private and that people started needing to request access to add a marker. I went into my email attached to this map and reset the settings back to public. It should be working normally again. Sorry for the hiccup!
-
Added mine into the Sydney area, Australia.
-
Hi,
my first post on the forum and seemed like a good place to start, adding to the growing list of Aussies, Im in Sydney.
My backstory:
I built a mame console about 10 years ago, played DK for about 3mths on it and submitted a score of 146,700 to TG at the start of 2010.
I dusted off my console about 3mths ago and got to 300K (not recorded). When searching the forums I found out about KOA3 so signed up and went along to meet some of the community. It was a great experience and I was made to feel welcome.
Since coming back home I have recorded a PB of 351800 which I need to get around to posting for submission (my next post).
The information now available to improve rapidly is awesome and unlike 10 years ago I believe I can get a KS now, so Im going for it.
I've also dived into the deep end and just bought a DK Jr cab from the US which I'll convert to a DK with a board swap. Super excited and will post some pics when it arrives.
Cheers
-
Thanks for let me in. Im Rod Rovigo from Brazil. Started playing Donkey Kong Arcade 1981 for around 1 month.
-
Hopefully I managed to add myself, did not work in the android App.
Second pin in Sweden!
