I thought about this much lately, about starting an own blog here on the forums.

My name is Patrick Goldbach, i'm 22 years old from germany.

I started playing videogames by the age of 3, when i played on my fathers Commodore Amiga 500.
I had my first contact with Donkey Kong by the age of 5 when i got my Super Nintendo and was playing Donkey Kong Country, the first time i played the actual arcade DK was when i was, i think 13 or so.

My competitive DK "career" really started in 2009 when i rediscovered MAME, after watching the King Of Kong.

Till the beginning of 2013 i wasn't taking it to serious in terms of getting a good score going, my highscore on DK back in the day was about 50k points, till a friend of mine challenged me in a few arcade games.

Right now i'm pursuing a few temporary gaming goals:

Hi Patrick.  I see you've been with us for 7 months, so please accept my belated welcome!

You'll have to forgive the mathematically challenged gentleman who first replied to your initial blog post.  It's been almost 5 months since Vincent was entertained by my pathetic attempts to play DK on an actual arcade machine, so he's desperately looking to poke fun at someone else.  Keep working toward your goals, and I'm confident we can both "lose the luggage", if you know what I'm saying.   

Speaking of "checkpoints", have you ever considered Out Run [set 3] on MAME?  I spent several months last year, actively chasing the MAME record.  I would enjoy tracking another player's progress on that title.

Speaking of "checkpoints", have you ever considered Out Run [set 3] on MAME?  I spent several months last year, actively chasing the MAME record.  I would enjoy tracking another player's progress on that title.

with a bit of tweaking i should be able to score 30,000,000

I also really enjoy Space Zap, my competition high is 147,750. It's a game I've always liked and had a bit of natural talent for, but I've never seriously practiced it, mostly because I think I could only play about 30 minutes of it seriously before taking a break. I've never tried it in MAME though, what is your control setup like for that game? Good luck, it would be fun to work on this game together with you!

Where at in Germany do you live?  I ask because I travel to Germany for work from time to time, and it might be cool to meet up with another DK player overseas.  I travel to Berlin a few times a year.  Odds are you don't live in that area though.

When i play mame i play with a 4 way stick on my mame cab, and arrowkeys on pc. in fact, my PB was done on an actual SpaceZap arcadecab. My mame highscore is roundabout 110k, i should play this more often =P

i live nearby Frankfurt, which is more central, but 500 km away from Berlin.
would be cool tho to meet someday or you could carry a DK cab with you, since its almost like impossible to find a DK cab around here^^

Short update, tonight i upped my CK highscore from 202300 to 233500.

not that high improvement but if i can work on my unlucky deaths, i'll be fine!
