What is your current best score thru round 32 and thru clearing 136? I'm looking to play a little while the world collapses.

Not sure what my old scoring was before you motivated me to stop being so lazy  ;)

I've just been working on new patterns and techniques lately, but once I get playing actual games out in theory I should be able to hit 581k at the end of round 31 on a good day. But that's without extra dirt digging on round 4-11 which I am still debating on whether to re-work or not. Too busy working is no longer an excuse :P

I am already re-working dirt clearing "patterns" I had come up with from 32+ based on things I figured out recently so we will see what's up with the scoring @ 136 soon. I'm actually thinking of going for a Rev 2 KS first as a warm up before I go back and tackle the OG slow boards again.

I will be sharing everything as I go along with some interesting discoveries about Round 13+ in the very near future (instead of going left all the time there a bunch of similar but slightly different patterns you can use to the right that give more consistent rock drop results).

Happy Digging!

Round 32-35

See notes with YouTube video about Round 33+35. There are more 10k rock drops than we thought ;)

I've played thru 90 or so in mame getting 10k drops every round, it can be done but there are subtle difference in each round that make it pretty difficult to execute in a real game. Good work so far.

The Round 33-137 "Problem"

Those little differences on some rounds are an execution issue for sure.

For example...these starting rock drop patterns below work for Round 33-137+ but it's a lot more to keep track of than going to the left like we usually do. Also some of the later patterns are pretty tricky to do consistently. You also end up with two fast angry Frygars coming at you on top of each other on some of these later rounds right after the drop (97+).

Round 33-137+

*Note* on Rev 2 with no slowdown rounds the Round 137+ starting rock drop works up to the kill screen without any changes ;)

The background for most of these is from older screenshots I took of a quicker but more pumpy dirt clearing pattern that balances speed versus all the earth points. The first rock drop is what matters here. Pooka's are blue and Frygar's are red btw for the few rounds I include monsters above. I only show what I need in these as a quick reference when playing and glancing at my phone.

I may make a compilation video of all these first rock drops to share later. Plenty of free time these crazy days...

Dig Dug - Round 35-135+ 1st Rock Drop

Round 35-135+ 1st Rock Drop

These could probably use some more play testing but I was able to execute them all multiple times in a row which is a good stability sign. Only a few pattern variations for this round type...much less than the Round 33 cycle.

I haven't play tested the Round 135+ pattern to the kill screen yet (rev 2 no slow down) but I tested it on a dozen later rounds and it works fine. Nothing seems to change in Rev 2 after round 133 difficulty wise for any of the 4 looping rounds so should it be good.

Almost time to actually play out some real games to see how these all work ;)
