Getting 6-year olds into Teh Classics
« on: September 25, 2018, 12:54:21 pm »

In my topsy-turvy life I've ended up living with 6-year-old Genevieve a few days a week, and we've had great fun playing Ms Pacman and Chicken Shift on Mame on my laptop, though she did disapprove of using QAOP for the directionals <mad>

Basically her hands are too wee for a keyboard, so her dad was considering getting this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pac-Man-Connect-Play-Classic-Games/dp/B0104G9K4Q/ref=dp_ob_title_toy

Has anyone here tried one of these? It's Namco / Bandai, it looks half decent.

Or are there any other plug and play arcade thingies that literally a 6-year/old can use unsupervised?

Thank you kindly  <blinky>

My 6 year old plays dk on switch, pac man on mame on a laptop, old console games on original hardware and a crt, and I figured it was easier to just teach him how to use the computer and the systems.

I figured if he couldn’t use mame he’d never be able to pass L4 vator, so didn’t bother trying to make it too easy.
