Twin Galaxies recently changed the "Verification Date" for Todd Rogers 5.51 score on Dragster for Atari 2600.  This was done after a Dispute was started for the score while the Verification Date was listed as 05/09/2001 which was the date Twin Galaxies verified the score and entered it in their database.  At some point after the Dispute of the score was started, the verification date was changed to 09/01/1982.

I'll abstain Mr. Strain.

Unless there is a third option added.

Score didn't happen.

1982.  The less association Twin Galaxies has with Ron Corcoran, the better.

I think it should be the 1982 date because the act of TG adding it to their database wasn't really an instance of verification. If it's a score from another "authority" and TG chooses to add it to their database, the original date from the original authority should be shown.

That being said, this score didn't really happen soooo.....

The day it was verified of course.

Problem is, it wasn't verified by anybody at TG, and God knows when Activision verified it.

Jace Hall claimed on the TG forum that some unknown TG referee "tacitly verified" it by finding it somewhere and making the decision to enter it in the TG scoreboard.

Jace calls that "the truth of the matter"; I call it horseshit. When I see "Referee" in the verification method column on the scoreboard, that means to me that a TG referee witnessed the performance. Is there somewhere in the scoreboard where it is made clear that "Referee" in the verification method column may simply mean that the score was found somewhere by a referee and entered? Perhaps an entry of "Referee (Tacit)" could be used to differentiate between that sort of referee "verification" and the cases where the score was really witnessed by a TG referee.

The year listed doesn't bother me nearly as much as the verification method being misleading.

In the video below, starting at the 13:10 mark, Walter Day is heard discussing the dragster score which Todd brought to TG's attention.

Walter ultimately states "It never was a Twin Galaxies adjudicated score at any time."

Hmm... According to this post: http://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/175364-Dispute-Dick-Moreland-Atari-2600-VCS-Dragster-NTSC-Game-1-Difficulty-B-Fastest-Time-Player-Todd-Rogers-Score-05-51?p=918336&viewfull=1#post918336

The 5.51 score wasn't listed in the Activision Newsletter until Spring 1983, making it more unclear where the 9/1/82 date came from as the score was not listed in the December 1982 Activision Newsletter.

Referee is basically an asterisk on a record, meaning there's a damn good chance it's fake.
