Everyone say hi to Josh at the Kong Off. He's the guy rocking Dig Dug wearing sleeves and looks like the Iron Sheik. :)
-
All of those games are fun except Dig Dug and Mappy
-
Digging dirt in Dig Dug is not fun, but Mappy really grew on me. Yes I know you can't jump or shoot in that game lol. What I enjoy is that despite being a cop, Mappy is very helpless.

Ain't Nothin' Wrong With Silver!

I shoot for gold my friend.

I set some personal bests last night at Barcade.

big big big, well done Josh, 3 in one night :o
-
Thanks Ethan. It was one of those nights.

I wish I had 3 in one night... (no homo)
Joke aside, well done mate ;-). You seem to be a passionate/well-rounded arcade gamer, 2014 will be big big big for you!
-
Thanks Vince, I'm hoping 2014 is a good year. I saw your interview on the Spike TV awards. Nice.
Only if we could all score 3 times in one night :D
-
Josh I have to admit you have done a lot in the short time that you have been part of the scene. Your Timber, and Dig Dug scores are epic scores, and that 300k on Lady Bug is not too shabby as well.
-
Good stuff, Josh! Now beat George's Lady Bug score and fuck his ass, make him humble.
-
LOL. I'll try to beat George's score but no fucking asses and making him humble (no homo)

Thanks George. Hopefully everything is working out with you.

I improved on my Mappy over the weekend. I scored a 327K at the Jersey City Barcade, which set a Barcade record to win a $50 gift card during a one week promotion. Fellow BOTA team members George (Lady Bug), Tim (Millipede), and Steve (Missile Command and Frogger) also won $50 gift cards as well. Later in the evening I scored a 347K at the Brooklyn Barcade. The JC score was on a dedicated machine and the BK one was on a multicade.

Here are some updated scores for my classic arcade gaming goals for this year.
Game Personal High Goal
Mappy 355,790 (Round 28) 400,000
Joust (Marathon) 1,194,950 2,000,000+
Lady Bug 308,470(Round 15) 350,000
Here's a screenshot of my score for my first million point Joust game at Barcade this past weekend.
-
Nice! Time to take Lonnie and George down!
-
Thanks. I would like to take Lonnie's Barcade score down, though I expect Mark to do it before me.
-
I forgot, congrats on your 1.6 million point game on Mario Bros.
-
I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any conventions or flea market setups, whether ongoing or for an upcoming event, in the Mid-Atlantic region (NYC Metro, New Jersey, or Eastern PA)? I'm trying to find additional areas where I can purchase some classic console games. We have three stores in NYC (J&L Game Trading, Video Games New York, and 8-Bit and Up) that sell a lot of classic games, but I've been to all three so many times, that I am trying to find other sources in my area.
Thanks

Digital Press
www.dpvideogames.com (http://www.dpvideogames.com)
Storefront in Northern Jersey. Puts most new video game stores to shame. Highly recommended.
Both places have very very fair prices. You won't find any steals, but you won't get ripped off either. Next time I go to either I'll give you a call.
-
Thanks a million Hank. Both locations are located near train stations, so it's easy for me to get to. I will definitely check both locations out. Digital Press is having an event this Saturday. I think I will attend it.

That seems like an unfortunate domain name.

I'm glad someone else said it. Kreygasm

No wonder Josh didn't want to come with me.
-
The best legitimate, (see: most unfortunate) domain name I've seen was on Tosh.O once, it was for potential job openings at the Blackberry's parent company (or I suppose what the company was formerly known as). I'll let the forum make the connection.
-
Who wouldn't want a Research In Motion job??

I reached a personal best on Mappy at the opening day of the new Barcade in Manhattan.
The layout of the new location is great. It has the feel of a traditional arcade. Here is a list of the games they have.

Nice job great score!
-
Thanks. You gotta drop by there sometime to show them who is boss in Galaga, Frogger, and everything else.
-
I was at Barcade last night and my friend Mark aka ZAP and I decided to play some Joust doubles and out of nowhere we scored a combined 7,603,250 points in marathon settings. We pretty much have it locked down to a science, though we had our fair share of greediness, but we feel that we can blow this score out of the water. Joust doubles was not on my list of goals, but it is now.
-
Awesome! Nice score! Roll 'er over next time! Lovit!

Thanks man. Eventually the plan is 10,000,000 a piece. I figure it will take about 10 hours to do.
-
I reached one of my gaming milestones tonight. I broke 350,000 on Lady Bug at Barcade's 10th Anniversary party. I also took down George Leutz's (Duncan P. Idontknow) long standing Barcade score (over 3 and a half years) as well.
-
Damn. Awesome score love it.
-
Kreygasm body slam! <Roy>
-
Yeah, Josh! Love me some Lady Bug.

Here are some updated scores for my classic arcade gaming goals for this year. I had a breakout game of Joust last weekend. My previous best was 1.3 million. I also added a new goal. I am trying to see how far I can get in Dig Dug without dropping any boulders. All enemy kills will be with the pump.
Game Personal High Goal
Dig Dug (No Boulders) Round 74 Round 100
Joust (Marathon) 2,166,900 3,000,000+
Below is a screen shot of my Joust game and here is a link to my Dig Dug game. I post these about once a week on YouTube. ! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e_nJ8I7pQ0#)
-
sweet score sir! Kreygasm
The no boulder variation is a great idea and it's fun to see how you have to change your strats to survive. Next you'll be playing it with your feet. <Pigger> DDG could also mean Dig Dug Game
<Tim>
-
Thanks man. It is tricky for some stages, because you either have to be super fast with the pump button or know how to dig paths to divert thet enemies away. It's fun and challenging. I can imagine how fast I can pump using my toes :-P

Last night, I made a last second decision to go to Barcade and I ran into my good buddy ZAP and we decided to give some Joust doubles a go. We were rocking all night. We had crowds watching us and we scored a combined 10,000,000+ points. We stopped the game after we each got 5,000,000 a piece. It was getting really late. We started at 9:30 and finished at 2:30 in the morning. Though not a personal best, I managed to sneak in a 326,000 point Lady Bug game on a faulty joystick.
