Right now the titles are just the forum defaults with DK related icons:

I was thinking the badges could be displayed below the avatar somehow, though I have no idea if this forum software would support such a feature.

A badge system could generate greater profile personalization and promote more competition and involvement throughout the community.

A single row of badges under the signature seem to be the cleanest method for displaying multiple badges. Putting them in the user profile pane stretches the pane out to accommodate all the badges and looks a bit tacky as well as making the message window smaller.

This is how the badges would look in a post:

Mousing over the badges tells what achievement they are for and clicking on them takes you to another page with a detailed description.

I can't think of a single instance where someone suggested something for the forums and Jeff didn't put it into action almost immediately. You da man Jeff.

Now, about these badges.. How will they be issued?

One solution is to allow all forum members access to all badges, and simply have each individual pick and choose which badges they want displayed. Of course, this method expects forum members will not grab badges they haven't earned, though this is all for fun and I probably shouldn't even worry about such things.

Couple badge ideas:
1.) Has blog
2.) Created thread with X amount of replies/views
3.) Fireball whispering badge (not exactly sure on qualifications here)
4.) MAME killscreen badge separate from Arcade killscreen badge?
5.) Keyboard icon signifying its wearer prefers to play DK with its proper controls ;)
6.) Joystick icon signifying its wearer prefers playing on the Arcade
7.) DKJr killscreen
8.) DKJr. million
9.) DK3 badge of some sort? Nah. Probably not necessary.

Jumped fireball and pie in same jump (yeah only because I did it yesterday)
Big rivits = 11000 on 5+ rivit screen ( not sure if this is high enough tho)

Some good ideas (and some not-so-good ones ;)) here.

As far as issuing the badges, I don't see a way around them being Admin assigned. I didn't write the mod from scratch. I'm just modding someone elses mod and it is only accessible from the admin control panel. I'm not good enough at coding to figure out how to change that. It will take some time to initially get them assigned. I will probably roll them out one at a time starting with the Twitch badge.

The only tweeks I would add is:

1. Those with 1.1M badges should also have the 1M badge. (The cool thing about badges is the more decorated a player is with badges, the cooler it is. For 1.1M , They've earned the 1M badge, as well as the 1.1M badge - Also, maybe a slight color change on the 1.1M vs. the 1M)

2. The Killscreen one is cool, but could just be my monitor, the L=22 is hard to read with the dark blue on black that small.

Also, I think there needs to be some more badges available that don't end up just being hogged by the best players (like the Twitch badge).

Some ideas off the top of my head:

DKF Blogger (link to their DKF Blog)

DKF Special Contributer (anyone who is doing a lot for the DK Community -- DKF admins, high score list keepers, Chris's DK Blog website, Tutorial / Manual creators, etc)

DK Arcade Machine Owner (link to their KLOV entry?)
(Similar for Owner of DKJR, DK3, D2K, Crazy Kong Arcade Machines?)

Arcade Owner (3 or more cabs?)

Event "Participation" badges?

Here's an idea that's likely a programming headache, but how about a badge for crossing 100,000 points that gets "automatically" REPLACED by a 200,000 point badge when you boost up your score, and so on. This would continue upwards until you hit a killscreen (this badge gets replaced by your killscreen badge) or you hit a million points without a killscreen (this badge gets replaced by your permanent 1M badge).

Alrighty then . . . just throwing some ideas out there. You guys are doing an excellent job of running these forums. Whatever you guys want to do with ideas like these that's great!

Also for players that aren't quite KS capable yet, it gives me a neat way to win a badge that isnt necessarily as hard as a DK KS. I guess you could look at it as a good initiation badge or something. I really like this idea for CK KS badge! Gives all players something cool to shoot for that isnt totally out of reach.

That's why I was sort of hinting at "how did Pauline sneak in there", etc. Of course, I don't want to offend the Pauline champ either lol. I know D2K is technically a hack, but it's been pretty widely accepted as being a legit, high quality DK related game, unlike basically all of the other hacks and clones out there.

Anyways, whatever you guys want to do is fine of course. It's all in good fun.

Who has the 1-1 Arcade WR? I think Dave McCrary has a 12,900 but not sure if it's MAME or arcade. As far as I know all the 13K's have been in MAME (think that has more to do with the restarting than any difference in keyboard/joystick).

Dave's 12,900 score was done on MAME.

I don't know who has the record either, since TG doesn't track Level 1-1 on the arcade platform.

Brian told us at Funspot that he had 13,200 or 13,300 (wasn't sure between the two those (OMG I SAID TUDOSE!... lol). But I think it's 13,200, since that's what Billy Mitchell claimed at KO1.

But Brian Kuh probably misinterpreted the question, since it was probably on the all lives challenge. Kappa
