Title: Hardware forum
Post by: naujoks on January 28, 2019, 08:39:13 am
My DK cabinet has a sync issue with the monitor (not the original one).
The picture is rolling, and when connected to my 60 in 1 iCade board during the setup screen, the picture is scrambled up entirely.
Here's probably not the right place for such hardware question, but does someone know of a forum where I can post such a question?
Just in case you're interested, I've attached a picture of all the many knobs I can turn (and make things worse if I just keep turning some).

is it rolling vertically or horizontal?

It was rolling horizontally. I found the knob that fixes it, so I'm good now.
I still need some hardware advice though, since the original DK board's picture doesn't get stable and there is no sound (when connecting the 60 in 1 it all works fine).

On the DK pcb's there's a couple of adjustment pots for horizontal/vertical adjustment. These are prone to failure and can cause what looks like a sync issue if they fail. Certainly worth checking out!

Yes, that's a good idea! That would still leave me with the sound issue though... Oh, and the game (I was able to see that) can't be started, because it doesn't recognise coins being inserted, and it doesn't seem to have a free play mode.

DK's sound is amplified on the monitor. If you don't have the original Sanyo/Sharp monitor you wont have sound. There are adaptors available from various parts supppliers (Mikesarcade etc) that will rectify this issue although this is something I've never had to do and know little about.

Good luck.

Ah yes. It's a replacement monitor (with very nice picture, at least).
So the question would be, where can I find more information about sound amplification and installing the right part?

I've learned quite a few things over the past few days.
On my DK board, there is an amplifier and inverter built it, that's why the picture appears in the right orientation. Still no sound though; I need to check the cabling.
I replaced the two pots on the video side of the PCB, and it's made a big improvement to the picture, but still isn't quite there.
Here's a video of what the picture is like at the moment.

If anyone has an idea what I could try, I'd be very grateful!
