Title: What's your opinion on selling gamer's autographs?
Post by: homerwannabee on July 25, 2018, 08:07:40 am
I was just wondering what people think about this?  Is it no big deal, or do you have a problem with it?  I've seen Walter Day sell autographs before, but given his contribution to the hobby I am perfectly fine with that, and I also realize some of that money goes towards making new cards.  But recently I saw an Allen Staal post of him selling his life magazine with autographs of arcade gamers.
So what say you?  Is this cool or does this break some kind of code?  Or is there a grey area, where it's sometimes OK or sometimes not OK.

As far as me, I've never sold a gamer's autograph.  Though I could change my mind.  I just would like an idea where exactly the hobby stands on something like this.

I guess it's just like selling anyone's autograph be it people find value in it. It's in the eye of the beholder on what the value is. I'm sure there's certain people's autograph that hold more value, but once they sign it it's up to the person that possesses the item on what he or she would like to do with it.

I see, to sign an autograph and charge, well, if people will pay you go for it :) You're not Reggie Jackson though, it's still pretty assy

If you come in 1st in FireBeast in Crap then people will pay for your autograph sir  Kappa

My opinion of someone selling a gamer's autograph is probably higher than my opinion of someone buying a gamer's autograph.   Kappa

Not sure what value an autograph holds from anyone. I've had authors sign books, but that's more for a reason to keep the physical thing and look at it in 30 years and remember meeting them or whatever. It's not like a treasured possession.

But if someone wants to buy it, hell. Let's get Lakeman paid!
