Hey all
A few of you are already aware but I've been trying to rally together some cobbas for a visit to Funspot while I'm in the US of A. Just a fun visit with nothing on the agenda other than a few drinks, games, friendly banter and good-times :)
We're looking at the weekend of the 24th March. Potentially I'd be there for a few days but definitely over that weekend.
Obviously everyone is welcome, this isn't an invitation-only thing. <Sanders> All unexpected and uninvited people are welcome too <Sanders>
I haven't booked anything yet personally as not 100% sure which airport I'll be flying from, or the exact date. But that weekend is definitely locked in.
Post here if you're interested so other people can see who is going :)

Is the Funspot video game arcade like my library, will they prevent me from playing the games if I am not wearing my trousers? Do they have the arcade video game where you move the man left to right and fire at the smiling bouncing ball? When I tried to save the game I couldn't use the button? Are there similar games to the game with the moving screen? How do I save this game? If my trousers fall off in the cabin, do I need to leave the library?

I can't confirm yet because of uncertain work/schedules, but me & Nina are always looking for an excuse to go to Funspot. It's not too too far a drive so it'd make a nice weekend outing.

I know you probably prefer TG but if you want, register in Aurcade (if you haven't already) and I can verify stuff live there for the Funspot Wall of Fame which is connected to Aurcade if you want.

Wow, i so wish i could make this gathering, but my wife would kill me..or sell my 18 arcade cabs and 200pcbs..while i was gone. I am running an aurcade verified and validated "wall of sids games" at arcade expo4.0...during the kong off 6 event..so hopefully i will see some of you there. If someone hapoens to have an extra plane ticket from seattle to nh..i might go..but otherwise probably not.

I'm going to see you at Arcade Expo in two and a half weeks. So even if I had the money, I wouldn't go up there which is 3300 miles away for a visit with you one week later. I don't see the point.

It's a bit hard to explain until you go there. Most all of the games on the floor they bought in their year of issue, DK obviously, Crazy Climber, etc, these games have been there since they were new. There are framed flyers and posters of Space Invaders tournaments held there in the 70's, pinball tournaments from the 60's, it's just got this aura. The games might not all be working and there are lots of fancy barcades and arcades out there now that attempt to capture that feeling. But they can't. No matter how many rare games a place can cram into its new vintage arcade, no matter how many neon pacman signs they can put up, none of them can actually be an arcade that has seen 60-70 years of operation. The chills I get walking through the doors every time are worth every penny. It's a living museum. I recommend everyone who is a fan of classic gaming and the arcade era make at least one visit in their lifetime.
You can't get the feels anywhere else.

There were a lot of great feels here and I couldn't be everywhere at once unfortunately (not yet at least!), so here are some personal faves from the weekend in no particular order.
- Drinking a shamrock shake in front of Spacey while heavily promoting it as the official beverage of Ireland.
- Barra's Sprint 2 runs that he decided to undertake entirely of his own accord <popcorn>
- Mike SP's Radical Radial runs that he decided to undertake entirely of his own accord <popcorn>
- 1 CC'ing Bally Sente Trivial Pursuit
- Tim Tams
- Getting to play a working Road Runner again
- Meeting all the folks I had yet to meet IRL like <snek> , DaLar, Barra, etc.
- Asking DaLar about all things Denmark
- Going candlepin bowling with like 500 people and it still taking only 30 minutes or something because candlepin
- Managing to avoid being groped by Jivey on multiple occasions (as far as I know)
- Glob games and breakfast with Fruity
- MAF Burger at Cactus Jack's
- Performing lucky/sick DK3 dodges with New Zealand commentary, got ems
- Managing to get through the weekend while recovering from illness still
