As far as classic gaming record holders, I feel like I may be the only one whose honest enough to admit they are a loser in life.
I am definitely bottom 20% material, maybe even lower, like 10%.
Now, don't get me wrong, most gaming champs are not losers in life. I consider the Donkey Kong champ, and the DKJr champ to be winners.
Steve Wiebe with his own house, wife, stable job, and kids is definitely not a loser despite what the KoK tried to portray him.
So yeah, as far as I can tell, I'm the only admitted Omega male in classic gaming. There are others that I won't mention who you could classify as a loser, but I am the only one who says, "Yeah, I'm a loser, the Omega male, the bottom of the totem pole, the passed over."
Cue, the Beck music.

Steve Dwebie and Silly Bitchell are BOTH losers! Only losers have to lie and cheat other players to get ahead. KoK was a perfect example. The only reason Steve has got what he's got is his parents and crooked connections in the film business that paved the way for him in life. Same with Silly Bitchell. Billy was basically handed a hot sauce business from birth and over prometed as "so-called" gamer of the century. Those two jokers could not deal with reality without being juiced up by a secondary source.
BTW MY Steve Vs. Billy Vs. Tim Sczerby challenge is still open at the next Kong off.
My prediction: Billy shows up so the idiot crowd can worship him, jerks around does nothing scores 500k then leaves. Steve gets a 950k KS and the idiot crow goes crazy! and Scerby plays to wipe them both out at the cost of $1000 for the 2. and nobody says anything

Glad to see you respond Tim. I am going by society's definition of loser. Society is perfectly fine with people who exploit others for their gain so that they come out as winners.
If I am going by biblical version of winners, well then it's, "The first shall come last, and the last shall come first. "
By that standard, I'm doing just fine. :)

Yeah, Brian has me beat on that, and has a sweet Arcade, and pinball collection. That's probably worth a good 10 grand.

Vincent, you represent a total success to me. You succeeded in having a wonderful family. That's what it's really all about.
The reason Or even bring it up is because there are down trodden people out there. The rags to riches story is great, but it's always, "used to be."
I on the other hand, am one of them. So in a sense my situation is more relatable. Someone whose one of them. I'm still on team bottom 20%· I'm still on their team. Someone who will own up to it. Someone who will say, yeah, I'm one of you. :)

You might want to redefine success/loser firstly. Having a family isn't success if it's unhappy. Having no family isn't necessarily a loss if you are happy. Try being happy to find success. Also, if you define success as having a family, then you should consider getting a local trucking job (bread/beer/UPS, etc) and spend less time making these silly threads. Go talk to a woman, woo her with your charm, marry her, have some kids, then come back and post again and let us know how it's going.

Whenever you feel down, or feel like a loser, remember that you were once the fastest sperm to make it to the woman egg. The other sperms were probably like:"Holy shit mates, this guy is fast as hell fttttt how does he knows. This guy is a winner, it wouldnt surprise me if he reaches the dk3 blue screen or something. Wait and see!"

First off, if we were to take away all your accomplishments with Donkey Kong, and it's clones (yes this includes Crazy Kong and it's clones), and then if take away all my accomplishments in relation to Donkey Kong 3 and it's clones, and difficulty settings. Guess what? When it comes to all other CAG/MAME games my list of accomplishments is a tad bit better than yours.
Second off, your classic gaming identity is much more tied to Donkey Kong, than it is for me, and Donkey Kong 3.
About 99% of your popularity comes from Donkey Kong. You have been the Arcade champ for over a year and a half, and half a year extra before that. That's two years being the Donkey Kong champ.
2 years of being the Donkey Kong champ equals 200 years of being the Donkey Kong 3 champ.
So even if you lose the Title tomorrow it won't matter. You see ten years from now in the CAG world you'll be known as the guy who had the Donkey Kong title. For the rest of your life you'll be under Donkey Kong's shadow. You could match the accomplishments of Matt Hall, and you'd still mainly be known as the guy who had the Donkey Kong record.
Like I said, Donkey Kong 3 gets about 100 times less publicity. I have spent a ton of time on other games, but I'm still known as the Donkey Kong 3 guy. So get used to the idea of only being known as the Donkey Kong champ by the majority of people who know about you.

When you basically implied I was a one trick pony. I'm more than a great DK3 player. I'm a good overall player.
To be honest though all my accomplishments in CAG/MAME world don't match your Arcade Donkey Kong score. That's simply a thing of beauty.
So hey, you got the PSA 10 Topps 1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card score of CAG.
It's so great that it'll be the thing that you'll be mostly known for in CAG gaming for the rest of your life.

Yeah, I had a moment of clarity. I'd rather be called a loser than being implied a one trick pony in classic gaming.
I get how ridiculous that sounds.
I guess it boils down to
1) real world I see as out of my control.
2) classic gaming world I see as in my control.
Thus classic gaming is my escape from the real world for this very reason.
If life had gone differently, and I found a woman of my dreams who could put up with my nonsense, I'd like to think that I wouldn't have relied so heavily on this escape I decided to delve into years ago.

Again, it's not because of any thing to being a loser. I would have obviously agreed to that. It's being a one trick pony I had a problem with
You see I could hold the World records in Donkey Kong, Galaga, Galaxian, and Ms. Pac Man, and I would still consider myself a loser.
In real life I'm still a dude that desperately wanted to get married, have kids, and a 9 to 5 job.
Since I failed in my major life goals, I therefore am a loser in life.
Classic gaming is just a diversion to this. In classic gaming, the fake world things are more in my control. In this world I can pretend I am a winner.
So when someone attacks my fake world, it tics me off more than when someone attacks my real world. I've given up hope for the real world, but in the fake world, I am building a castle full of scores that will take a very long time to complete.

I call classic high score gaming the fake world because it's of very little consequence to the world at large.

I saw the thread title and I immediately knew this was a George Riley thread.
I have zero arcade world records. But I know that I'm better than average at Star Castle, Space Fury and Sinistar. I enjoy competing in arcade tournaments (even though I'm no major threat) to see how I stack up against others on various titles and I enjoy the environment. Heck, qualifying for the finals at ReplayFX this year was fun despite knowing that it wouldn't've been possible had some of you guys shown up.
Now I'm rusty at arcade games cuz I've been devoting my time to pinball the last year-and-a-half. I'm just an average pinball player - my world ranking and tournament results support that. However, I did manage to place the top score on Ghostbusters this year at PAPA and I've won trophies and cash at local league and tournaments.
None of that makes me feel like a winner or loser. I'm just having fun.

And what have you done to change that?
The best thing that ever happened to me was getting fired from a factory job over 20 years ago. It gave me the opportunity to go to college full-time and get an Associates Degree. I busted my ass, Dean's List, won a scholarship, graduated with honors and I got a job because of it.
I met a girl at college. I got her a job at where I worked and a short while later we got married. Today I have a modest house, a decent car, a small home arcade, two great looking kids and a career.
Since I failed in my major life goals, I therefore am a loser in life.
With that attitude you've pretty much just thrown in the towel and accept the status quo. Figure out where you want to be and how to get there.
Maybe you should start smoking weed. Serious. I can solve the world's problems when high.
