One of the more interesting things about playing on arcade is the pattern of sprites and garbage that appear when you turn on the game. For the most part, this is seemingly different for each pcb that someone has. I thought it would be fun to have a place where we have all the different rug patterns per player. The easiest way to do this is just to reset in a semi-fast manner and take a screenshot of when the garbage appears when rewatching the broadcast later.
I'll start:

What's weird is that mine is different after the game has been running for a while. When I first fire the game up, it fills much more of the screen. After I've been playing for a while and reset, it looks like this:

Wow, thats a really interesting one! It would be neat to learn what causes different "fingerprints" in these pcbs.

I actually had begun acquiring some "data" on this very topic a while back...
Here are the scramble screens for Wes', Chris', and my basements' cab.
In the final picture, I compared my "rug" against Chris' and against the (inverted*) mame scramble screen, this was when I was attempting to determine the overall "patterns" of the screen; ie. banding, sprite vs. text regions and specific distribuitions of color.
Such Nerdery :) Kreygasm <stirpot>
* I noticed that the mame "rug" is displayed on screen "vertically inverted" when compared to the arcade hardware, IMO it's a funny (yet understandable <Pigger> ) oversight on behalf of mameDev

perhaps it would serve us better to pair the images with the SN's; I'm sure I'm not the only one with multiple PCBs.

Interesting, your pattern closely matches Gleed's, but the numbers and symbols are different. I wonder if certain revisions or factories caused some of the basic formats for the rug patterns... <popcorn>

Interesting stuff. I took one with flash on, and then one with flash off. These were both relatively cold starts, after being off for at least 24 hrs. They seem to be the same, but I post 'em both for comparison. Seeing others' results I would also be interested to see if mine changes after the machine's been on a while.
:edit: ha, didn't realize mine was already posted above. Thanks, f_symbols! Looks like mine is pretty consistent, even months apart. :)

Here's the pattern my board gets.
If it's been off long enough, the pattern is the same each time it's powered up.
It's interesting that it really varies from board to board. The pattern would mostly be a result of the 'random' data the bits in the RAM chips settle to on power up. Maybe the different styles of rug patterns are simply from different batches or even different manufacturers of RAM chips.

Cool thread! <popcorn>
A rug pattern from England!

Here is an interesting one. This is Tim Sczerby's ( <Tim>) rug pattern. This is the first time I have ever seen it because he refreshes his cab too fast to even display it, but here it is. It bares some resemblance to Copie's, but with different garbage at the bottom. <stirpot>

This is the "rug pattern" for an improperly-seated DK Remix pcb :)

Ha, was just about to post this. I suspect the rug will be the same if you didn't have the remix board in. Ill note this in the soon to come "Rug Pattern Registry" as the Dean Machine cab :D

Here's the rug pattern off my TKG3 4-board set.

I do love it. Pink oil can and everything! : -o
On a side note, it still drives me nuts that the mame Pattern is vertically inverted relative to a "real" <Tim> Rug Pattern

OMG so vivid. I'm going to need to do this too

Here are my direct feed rug screens:
Donkey Kong (TKG4-11) that I use for testing Remix kits.
Double Donkey Kong (DJR1-02) that is currently in my cab.
Donkey Kong Spooky Remix Prototype (TKG4-14)

TKG-14 in my cab.
Hope the pic works, im a bit forum challenged ; )
