Title: My Subforum Suggestions
Post by: ChrisP on January 26, 2013, 02:24:55 pm
Feel free to tell me to go fall off a cliff, but here is what I think so far:

- I like "General Donkey Kong Discussion" and "Donkey Kong Strategy" and the subforums. Those are great as they are.

- I think the "Streaming" section should have just two subforums: "General Streaming Discussion" and "Streamer Blogs" or "Streaming ((insert word here))", where each person can make their own thread and bump it when they plan to stream, discuss their last stream, etc.

I feel that "Streaming Tutorials" and "List of DK Streamers" would work better as stickied topics in "General Streaming Discussion" rather than entire dedicated subforums of their own.

- Maybe make "Game Videos" just "Videos", with the "Epic Games" subforum, and a second subforum for miscellaneous DK-related videos, like the Allen Staal Rage Compilation, Kong Off news coverage, etc.

- Speaking of the Kong Off, there should be a Tournaments section! There could be a dedicated "Kong Off" forum, and then an "Online Tournaments" forum.

I have more ideas, but I'd like to move a little bit at a time with them.

What does everyone think of these proposals?

All great suggestions, Chris.

I'm still wrapping my brain around the software and right now things are just kind of set up off the top of my head.

The forum will definitely evolve as time goes on and these are exactly the kind of suggestions I'm looking for.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks for all your work, Jeff! Keep in the back of your mind where you'll eventually want Vincent and I to have a place for our manuals to be critiqued and discussed. Also a place in the streaming section (however that ends up organized) to link/post to our DK streaming/manual/biographies website. You can call the shots on were you want that when you're all ready for it. Thanks!

I think a "blog" section would be awesome so people can write their progress/thoughts/sh*t like that. I used to have a blog on TwinGalaxies back in the old days, I would enjoy to restart that along with others people!

That's why I really think the streaming forum should be "Streaming Announcements and Blogs".

I'm using my thread for that, in any case!  ;D

On second thought, "Streaming Notifications and Events" is good as it is, since it's starting to take off for that purpose (there's already three threads in there about events).

But my thread is kind of sore thumb in there now.

Maybe a new "blogs" subforum WOULD be good?

That will do, until I'm ready to bitch about something else.

I think you should have a front page for the forum that never gets updated.

Any chance we can have a Big Kong sub forum under 'Related Games'? I'd be interested in the thoughts of people who have played this game, particularly on the barrel boards.

I made it a child board of Crazy Kong since it is also a bootleg.
